Alpenglow is a long cowl that can be worn open or double-wrapped around the neck. A fun chevron lace pattern makes this cowl modern and stylish. Alpenglow was inspired by the Rocky Mountains that surround my home in Colorado.
Knit up with just one skein of my lovely, hand dyed Luna Grey Fiber Arts Zeta yarn - A super soft, silky yarn with beautiful drape and a subtle luster.
Alpenglow is knit in the round using circular needles. The first and last four rounds of the pattern are knit in garter stitch to minimize any edge curling. The chevron lace pattern is easy to memorize and fast to knit. I used nearly the entire skein of Zeta yarn for this pattern. So, if you know that you are a loose knitter, you have a few options…You can go down a needle size, cast on fewer stitches (in multiples of 8) or only do two rows of garter edging vs. four. Cowl can be made wider by simply joining a second skein and knitting additional 14 round repeats of pattern. Pattern includes both written and charted instructions.
Yarn:
One skein of Luna Grey Fiber Arts Zeta yarn (85% Polwarth Wool / 15% Silk, 289 yards/100g) or other sport/DK weight yarn with a nice drape. Sample knit in the Marquesas colorway.

One 24” Circular US #7 (4.5mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Other:
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends. A row/stitch counter is helpful.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern. However, if your gauge varies significantly, one skein of yarn may not be enough to complete the pattern.
